   The conference for Zone VII of the India Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) was held in Goa, witnessing the participation of 51 legislators and placing a strong emphasis on strengthening parliamentary democracy. This two-day conference was organized with the objective of improving governance and administration, empowering democratic institutions, and enhancing inclusivity in policy-making.
3. Who Was Colonel Sonam Wangchuk? How Did the Real Hero of the Kargil War Pass Away?
   Colonel Sonam Wangchuk (Retd.) passed away in Leh on April 10 at the age of 61, marking the loss of a valiant and inspiring warrior for the Indian Army. Known as the “Lion of Ladakh,” he was renowned for his courage and leadership. During the 1999 Kargil War, he served as a Major in the Ladakh Scouts and led a pivotal operation in the Chorbat La area of the Batalik Sector at an altitude of approximately 18,000 feet.
4. Gujarat Police Develops AI Tool: Drug Traffickers to Face Swift Conviction
   The Gujarat Police launched the ‘NARIT AI’ tool, an initiative announced on April 10, 2026. This marks India’s first law enforcement initiative to adopt an Artificial Intelligence-based system for the investigation of narcotics-related cases. The objective of this tool is to render the investigation of complex cases related to the NDPS Act more accurate, expeditious, and effective.

   AAKA Space Studio has developed Asia’s first 3D-printed radiation shield, designed to safeguard human habitats on Mars. This technology underwent successful testing during an analog space mission, demonstrating that sustainable construction on Mars could be a viable reality in the future.
6. NASA Makes History: Successful Return of the Artemis II Mission Crew
   NASA successfully completed the Artemis II mission on April 11, 2026, when the Orion spacecraft executed a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. This marks the first crewed lunar mission in nearly five decades, ushering in a new era in the field of space exploration. The mission spanned approximately 10 days, during which the astronauts traveled a distance of nearly 1.12 million
   kilometers, reaching a maximum distance of 406,778 kilometers from Earth.
7. What is Gaganyaan IADT-02? ISRO Conducts Key Air Drop Test
   ISRO successfully conducted the second Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-02) for the Gaganyaan mission on April 10, 2026, at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. The primary objective of this test was to validate the effectiveness of the Crew Module’s safe landing and recovery systems.
8. Commemoration of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar
   In memory of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, his birth anniversary is celebrated on April 14th as ‘Ambedkar Jayanti,’ a day that symbolizes the reinforcement of the values of equality and justice within Indian society. He was born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, and pursued his higher education at Columbia University and the London School of Economics.
