   Dr. Thomas Pucadyil has been appointed as the new Director of the Pune-based BRIC-NCCS (National Centre for Cell Science), a premier institute for advanced cell biology research in India. He succeeds Manisha Inamdar, who had served as the interim director.
2. A New Identity for Ayurveda through AI: Research to Become Accessible in 13 Languages The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has entered into a partnership with ‘Anuvadini AI’ with the objective of making scientific Ayurvedic literature available in 13 regional languages. Launched under the guidance of the Ministry of AYUSH, this initiative aims primarily to promote evidence-based Ayurveda by dismantling linguistic barriers.
3. A Blow to Global Politics: Demise of Former Suriname President Santokhi
   Chandrikapersad Santokhi passed away on March 30, 2026, at the age of 67, marking the end of a significant chapter in Surinamese politics. He served as the President of Suriname from 2020 to 2025 and was renowned during his tenure for implementing economic reforms and strengthening global relations.
4. NASA’s Artemis II Mission: Humans Return to the Moon in 2026
   NASA’s Artemis II mission is scheduled to launch on April 1, 2026; this historic mission will mark the first timein over 50 years that humans are sent into lunar orbit. This mission is part of the Artemis Program and aims to lay the groundwork for future lunar and Martian missions.

5. Promoting Science Communication: 5-Year MoU between AP Science City and CSIR-NIScPR
   A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on March 30, 2026, between the Andhra Pradesh Science City and the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), with the aim of promoting science awareness, STEM
   education, and policy research in India.
6. Expediting Insolvency Resolution: India Approves IBC Amendment Bill 2026
   On March 30, 2026, the Lok Sabha passed the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) Amendment Bill 2026, aimed at making the insolvency process faster, more transparent, and more effective. The objective of this amendment is to minimize delays and litigation while bolstering creditor confidence.
7. Digital Census 2027: Phase 1 Begins on April 1, 2026
   The 2027 Census is set to be conducted in India; it will be the country’s 16th census overall and the 8th since independence. Announced by Mr. Mrityunjay Kumar Narain, this will mark the first time the census is conducted entirely in a digital format.
8. World Autism Awareness Day
   World Autism Awareness Day is observed annually on April 2nd, an initiative established by the United Nations in 2007. The objective of this day is to raise awareness regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder and to disseminate accurate information about it within society.
