4. India’s Oldest Test Cricketer C.D. Gopinath Passes Away
   C.D. Gopinath, one of India’s oldest Test cricketers, passed away in Chennai at the age of 96, bringing to a close a significant chapter in the history of Indian cricket. He was the last surviving member of the historic team that secured India’s first-ever Test victory against England in 1952. This match was played in Chennai—then known as Madras—and is regarded as a turning point in the history of Indian cricket.

   The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the Kalai-II Hydroelectric Project, which is set to be developed on the Lohit River in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. The total cost of this project is ₹14,105.83 crore, and it will have an installed capacity of 1,200 MW, making it a significant initiative within the renewable energy sector.
6. Operation Himsetu: Army Completes Risky Rescue Operation Near India-China Border Within 48 Hours
   The Indian Army launched ‘Operation Himsetu’ to rescue people stranded in the Lachen region of North Sikkim, successfully evacuating over 1,400 tourists and local residents. This region holds strategic importance due to its proximity to the India-China border and had become completely cut off following massive landslides and incessant snowfall.

8. Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
   On April 13, 1919, a horrific incident unfolded at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar—an event that has come to be known as the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. This tragedy occurred on the day of Baisakhi, when thousands of people had gathered for a peaceful assembly. During this time, the British officer General Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on the crowd without any warning.
